Each day 1.2 Million passengers travel on the Dutch railways. Railway tracks are controlled by train traffic controllers using complex real-time systems. Any failure in one of the systems may cause thousands of passengers to be stranded in the stations and instantaneously the Railway Bob Harnisch works for ProRail and his keynote is a real life story about the origin of the Test Department.

Jan Tretmans, from TNO Embedded Systems Innovation, will be in charge of the second keynote, about the next step in Test Automation for embedded systems related to Model-Based Testing. MBT is a promising technology that enables the next step in test automation by combining automatic test generation and test result analysis with test execution, and providing more, longer, and more diversified test cases with less effort.

And last but not least, Nancy Van Schooenderwoertwill give the third keynote, under the title “Hardware-Software Collaboration in Agile Organizations” Nancy will show examples of varying degrees of collaboration between software and other disciplines (electronics, mechanical, operations, mathematicians…) from industry, and from her own experience as an electronics designer and software engineer. Her recommendations are based on both Agile and Lean concepts, and on 15 years’ experience as an independent Agile coach.
