“When technology alone is not enough: Independent co-assurance using the Safety-Security Assurance Framework (SSAF)”

Nikita Johnson is a researcher on the Assuring Autonomy International Programme (AAIP) whose research interest areas are the safety-security interaction for complex systems and socio-technical systems. She completed her Masters at the University of York (MEng Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence), and is currently completing a PhD project with the High Integrity Systems Engineering group (York) and BAE Systems. Her core contribution has been the development of the Safety-Security Assurance Framework (SSAF) with enables independent co-assurance of safety and security through explicitly modelling the attribute inactions through process, assurance arguments and the atribute artefacts.

His past roles include technology journalist, software product manager, software developer, and university professor.

“Pros and Cons of Doing Performance Testing Along with Development Versus at the End of it”

Ph.D. in Computer Science from the School of Computer UCLM Ciudad Real. He completed his degree in Computer Engineer at the University of the Republic in Uruguay. He has over 10 years of experience in consulting, research and testing related to the area of development.
Since 2005 has participated in functional, automated and performance testing projects, as well as analyst, tester and project leader. Since 2008 is co-founder of the company Abstracta, which is dedicated to providing testing services and development tools that help to simplify software testing tasks, and in particular developed GXtest (a specific testing tool based on models used to automate tests in GeneXus environments) and Monkop (a monkey testing tool for mobile apps www.monkop.com). In 2014 he published the first testing book entirely in Spanish called “Introduction to Information Systems Testing”. He is a collaborator in Nahual project (www.nahual.uy), a non-profit organization for social inclusion through the education in software testing. He is mainly dedicated to Abstracta Academy, as the Academic Director.

Alvin Sumter, serves as manager of Quality Assurance and Integration for Cox Enterprises, Inc., one of the leading media companies and providers of automotive services in the United States. Since joining Cox in 2003, Sumter has been in the lead in the implementation of quality assurance processes and procedures and currently leads the quality assurance and integration group responsible for maintaining and supporting enterprise software programs, electronic decision tools and internet applications for Cox’s newspaper division. Sumter works closely with IT Department Heads and End User Management to support the organization’s business needs. Sumter is a frequent presenter at Quality Assurance Conferences and serves on the Cox Quality Assurance Governing Board.

Regarding the topic of this presentation he gained his experience in the working field, participating diverse large embedded systems projects (medical X-ray platform, digital TV platform, car infotainment system, proton therapy system).
Currently Mr. Megens is working as an ICT-consultant for High Tech Solutions, a consultancy company in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.

Since 1995, Dr. Peleska is professor for computer science (operating systems and distributed systems) at Bremen University in Germany.
Dr. Cornelia Zahlten is managing director of Verified Systems International GmbH. After receiving her PhD in Mathematics in 1995, she was manager of the system administration team responsible for the computing network at the department of mathematics and computer science at the University of Bremen.
Together with Jan Peleska, she has developed the initial product version of RT-Tester and co-founded Verified Systems in 1998. Apart from her management responsibilities she is heading Verified’s V&V team for safety-critical railway control systems.
