CURRÍCULUM VITAE

Derk-Jan de Grood has worked as a tester since 1997. As an ISTQB/ISEB practitioner certified test manager he advises companies on how to set up their test projects. Industries he is familiar with are among others, banking, transport, logistics and telecom.

Regarding the topic of this publication Derk-Jan has gained his expertise in the working field. He has been involved in all kinds of projects. His experience covers designing test specifications and executing tests up to managing test departments. Currently he is implementing a corporate wide test methodology for an internet provider. His experience covers; young dynamic organizations, formal and large organizations, the testing of new build software and testing from a maintenance point of view, doing functional testing but also executing conformance testing. Besides his testing experience, his knowledge and experience in quality management enables him to implement processes that improve the quality of testing without losing sight of the practical aspects.

He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences. Which include: STARwest 2007 (Anaheim, USA), EuroSTAR 2005 (Munich) and 2007 (Stockholm), SQS conference 2007 (Düsseldorf), QA&Testing (Bilboa, Spain, 2007), Bits and Chips test day 2007 and the yearly event of the Dutch test federation 2006 and 2007. Derk-Jan is passionate about his profession and gives lectures at various Dutch universities and provides training sessions for fellow professionals in the trade.


ABSTRACT

Master class: Applying the Result driven test principles in your work

During this tutorial we will discuss the ‘Risks of regular testing’; why is it important to make the added value of testing visible and we we’ll get a closer look on ‘Methods vs. Attitude’.

The aim is that attendees will:

  • Understand that by increasing the added value of our work we increase the added value of the profession.
  • Understand how applying the test principles help us change the perception stakeholders have on testing.
  • Recognize the result driven elements in our own work and recognize when we are not result driven.
  • Be enthusiastic about integrating the principles in order to increase our own added value.
